Chương 3 của truyện dài “Project Aria” — Aster Home Technologies. 22 từ (mục 10.1 + 10.2 trong vocab-list.md). Nhân vật chính: Priya Nair (Dịch vụ DN) & Ben Tran (trainee mới). Cameo: John SB (kỹ sư IT).

Chapter 3 — The New Face on the Twelfth Floor

On Tuesday morning, Priya arrived at the office earlier than usual. John SB’s offhand remark from the night before — “about to quit any day now” — was still ringing in her ears, and she had made up her mind: she had to recruit new people for Project Aria before the paper trail collapsed under its own weight.

The first task was to post a job opening for a management trainee — a junior assistant to the executive team. On the careers portal, she typed the headline: “Vacancy: Management Trainee — Project Aria.” Just as she clicked “publish,” John SB wandered past, glanced at the screen, and delivered his usual line: “Oh, finally a vacancy. Maybe I’ll apply… so I can be transferred somewhere else.” Priya just smiled — John’s threats to quit had become a fixture of the twelfth floor.

Within two days, her inbox was flooded. Applicants poured in from everywhere, forming the largest applicant pool she had ever seen. Priya began screening: each application included a résumé and a cover letter. She set aside anyone who did not meet the minimum qualifications, then carefully examined the credentials of the rest — degrees, courses, and real-world experience.

Out of hundreds of files, she drew up a shortlist of the strongest candidates to invite for an interview.

The last person to walk into the interview room that afternoon was a young man named Ben Tran. He was a little clumsy, nearly knocking over a glass of water as he sat down, but his bright eyes and honest answers caught Priya’s attention. Ben’s résumé was light on experience, yet when she called the people on his list of references, everyone praised him as eager to learn and trustworthy. Priya realized this was a truly prospective trainee — what Aster needed right now was not someone already perfect, but someone who would grow with the company.

By the weekend, she decided to hire Ben.

The following Monday, Ben attended his orientation: he picked up his access badge, listened to an introduction to Project Aria, and signed a contract specifying a three-month probation period. Priya personally became his mentor, and also assigned him a direct supervisor to whom he would report each day.

As the newest subordinate on the team, Ben scrambled to learn everything — sometimes sending the wrong email or printing the wrong file, but never making the same mistake twice. Within a few weeks, he had proven competent at drafting meeting minutes, and surprisingly proficient with the spreadsheet software that many veterans still avoided.

Priya made a note in Ben’s file: there would be a performance review right after his first probationary month, and a formal appraisal at the end of the year — and if he passed, he would join the permanent staff.

End of Chapter 3.
