Bài 17 — MANUFACTURING: Dây chuyền & Năng suất
Chương 17 của truyện dài “Project Aria” — Aster Home Technologies. (Hồi III — Khủng hoảng & tôi luyện; mở màn.) 18 từ (mục 8 Manufacturing — nửa đầu: dây chuyền lắp ráp & năng suất, trong
vocab-list.md).

Chapter 17 — Running the Line Hot
The replacement chips were already in the Eastport warehouse. Ben’s doubts about their quality still hung in the air, but the Halston deadline waited for no one: Ray Osei had to run the whole plant at full tilt to assemble Aria in time. On the first morning of the new act, he went down to the floor with Joe Delgado — Eastport’s veteran foreman — and Ben, now rotating into manufacturing.
The entire assembly line was lit up. Along the conveyor belt, Aria frames drifted from station to station; at each one, workers assembled the components — the new chips among them — onto the boards. The overall assembly was broken down into dozens of small steps. At the head of the line, raw materials and parts were fed in without pause; heavy machinery stamped the casings, while the welding and testing equipment did the finer work. A few repetitive stages had been automated to spare human hands.
The pressure was in the numbers. Ray kept his eyes on the hourly output board, checking it against the target. To lift productivity and efficiency, Joe ran the line at full capacity and, with Ben, looked for ways to streamline a few wasted motions. The workforce was stretched thin: the plant added a night shift, and people worked three shifts back to back. Joe supervised each shift himself, his eyes never leaving the unit counter.
A fast pace has its price. This was exactly what Joe had warned about back when the union filed its grievance in Chapter 8: push the overtime harder, and tired hands make more mistakes. Cold coffee, long night shifts, a few worn-out faces — but the line had to keep moving.
Then, just as everything seemed to settle into rhythm, Ben froze at the end of the line. He lifted a tray that had just come off the belt and saw that a few units were… not like the others: warning lights flickering, casings running strangely hot. He waved Joe over.
